Saturday 1st. October 1785

The Council met.

Present His Excellency William Paca Esquire Governor.

The Honorable

Charles Wallace, Aquila Paca, John Davidson and Samuel T.
Wright Esquires.

The following Accounts against Confiscated British Property are
exhibited to this Board examined and approved.

King William School in the City of Annapolis against Daniel
Dulany Ex'r. of Walter amounting with Interest to this Day to
Thirty nine pounds, nineteen shillings and seven pence—and also
Robert Crawford against Robert Christie Jun'r. Sh[eri]ff amount-
ing with Interest as aforesaid to Three hundred and thirty seven
pounds, sixteen shillings and four pence.

The Petition of Joseph Allsop of Baltimore County was laid before
the Board, setting forth that he entered into a Recognizance in the
Sum of Ten pounds for the appearance a certain Sarah Grouse at
the January Criminal Court 1784 on Suspicion of Felony, that
previous to the meeting of the said Court he took the said Sarah
Grouse and was carrying her before a Magistrate in order to deliver
her up and obtain a discharge from his said Recognizance, when
William Godson met them and offered himself Bail for her, where-
upon the said [p 61] Joseph Allsop conceiving himself to be
released from his said Recognizance and gave her up to Godson,
that a few Weeks past the Sheriff served an Execution on the said
Allsop for the recovery of the said ten pounds, which became forfeited
by the Non appearance of the said Sarah Grouse, that she afterwards
appeared at the September Court following and the Witnesses not
attending she was discharged, And seven of the Justices of Baltimore
County aforesaid having certified that the Facts are true, and recom-
mending the Petitioner as a Person worthy of relief, The Board
are of Opinion and do order and direct that Five pounds part of the
Ten pounds forfeited be remitted.
