The Council met.
Present as on Saturday.
Ordered that the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Thomas Barrow
Junr. two pounds, fourteen shillings and tenpence half penny for
surveying and laying down a tract of Land sold by the late Intendant
to Richard Kinnard per Account passed by the Auditor General.
That the said Treasurer pay to John Henry Esqr. thirty four
pounds, ten shillings, Balance of an account, for attendance in
Congress passed by the Auditor General.
The Petition of William Holland of Worcester County, praying
a Remission of a fine of ten pounds, imposed on him for an Assault on
Elizabeth Amwood, is rejected.
Commission issued to Joseph Bewley appointed one of the Coroners
of Talbot County in the room of William Loveday resigned,
[p 7] The Justices of the County Court and Orphans Court of
Worcester County are hereby re-appointed.
In Council December 8, 1788
Thomas Rose of Frince George's County by his Petition sets forth
that he has been fined by the Court of the said County in the sum of
six pounds for retailing Spiritous Liquors contrary to Law, which
also appears by a transcript of the Proceeding accompanying the
Petition. The Petitioner represents that he has uniformly taken out
Licence before and since the small period of time during which he
became liable to Presentment; and that his Omission at that time
proceeded from an Opinion that his licence extended to September
term; whereas it in reality expired at the June term preceeding. The
Petitioner further represents that he is rather a poor man with a
large family, and that he has but one Arm. The Board being of
Opinion from the Circumstances of the Case and from a Recom-
mendation in favor of the Petitioner signed by three of the Justices
