[p 288] Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to
Robert Denny twenty three pounds, eleven shillings and three pence
Current Money due him as Clerk of the Council from 31 October
to 12th. December last per Account passed by the Dep'y. Aud'r.
That the said Treasurer pay to Joseph Clark Twenty one pounds,
three shillings and four pence for disbursements on the public
buildings on Account.
The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow.

In Council January 4th. 1788
Ralph Marlow of Charles County by his Petition sets forth that
he was in September term last, presented in said Court for selling
liquor contrary to Law, that he gave money to his brother to obtain
a retailing licence, which he informed the Petitioner he had done,
from which information the Petitioner sold, and that he was fined
by the Said Court for the same, that it appearing from an endorse-
ment on the back of the Petition that his brother had made oath to
the truth of the facts set forth in the said Petition, and three of the
Justices of the said County having recommended the said Petitioner.
This Board in consideration that the said Petitioner was deceived
by his said Brother, and of the aforesaid recommendation, do direct
a remission of the said fine, which is certified by the Clerk of the
County aforesaid to be 6oo lbs. of Tobacco and which is hereby
remitted.
