204 Journal of the State Council, 1784-1789.

agreeably to the "Act to adjust the Debts due from this State" per
Certificate issued in the name of Miss Mary Dorsey February 1779
liquidated by the Auditor General the 5th. instant.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.

Ordered that the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Messrs. Ridley
and Pringle Seven hundred and seventy five pounds, five shillings
and six pence specie agreeably to the "Act to adjust the Debts due
from this State" per Certificate dated in Council March 18 1782,
liquidated this 9th. Instant by the Auditor General.

In Council 9th. July 1787

John Boswell of Prince George's County by his Petition to the
Board, accompanied by a transcript of the Proceedings therein
mentioned sets forth that in the fall of the year 1785 he happened
to be at Bladensburgh when a certain George Short was carried
before a Magistrate charged with stealing Tobacco, that being
strongly solicited by the said Shorts wife, who had always been an
obliging neighbour, to become Surety for her Husbands appearance
at Court to answer the Complaint, he was at length persuaded to
become bound in a Recognizance of twenty pounds for the said Shorts
