The Council met.

Present as on Yesterday.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.

Saturday 23d. June 1787

The Council met.

Present as on yesterday.

Ordered that the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Arthur Smoot
Two pounds, two Shillings Current Money for the like Sum paid
by him into the Treasury on a Warrant obtained out of the Land
Office of the Western Shore to affect part of the reserved Lands
of the late Lord Proprietary, and not executed.

The Council adjourned 'till Monday Morning 11 o'clock.

Monday 25th. June 1787

The Council met.

Present His Excellency William Smallwood Esquire.

Agreeably to the Resolution entered into, on the 7th. instant ap-
pointing this Day for an Examination into the Charges made by
sundry Merchants and others of Baltimore Town against Mr. Zacha-
riah Alien, Notary Public and for considering a Petition from them
praying for the appointment of an additional Notary, the Board
being met proceeded to the Enquiry, No person appearing, nor any
Depositions transmitted to Support the Charges, and Mr. Alien being
heard in his Defence, the Board are unanimously of Opinion that
the aforesaid Charges are not Sufficiently established to render it
proper to dismiss Mr. Alien, and they are further of Opinion that
it is not expedient to appoint an additional Notary agreeably to
the Prayer of the said Petition.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.
