16 Journal of the State Council, 1784-1789.

John Scott, James Claypoole, William Stevenson, Thomas Van-
dyke and James Lloyd appointed Justices of the Orphans Court of
Kent County.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow 11 o'clock.

Saturday 2gth. January 1785

The Council met.

Present the Honorable

Aquila Paca, John Davidson, John H. Stone and Sam'l. T. Wright
Esquires.

The following Letter was received from Francis Deakins.

"Land Office 16th. December 1784

Sir,

As I intend to leave this Neighbourhood with my Family in a
few Days shall then resign the Examiners Office, Mr. William Brown
has been qualified to do some business in my Absence and will con-
tinue to Act as under me till your new Appointment takes place if you
approve thereof. I am, Sir

Your most obedient Servant

F. Deakins

Governor Paca."

Whereupon the Board considering the same as his Resignation of
the Examiner General's Office, Proceeded to the Appointment of an
Examiner General in his room, when Vachel Downes of Queen
Anne's County was appointed.

Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Esquire Intenclant of the Revenue
appointed by the General Assembly, lodges a Bond with the Board in
the Penalty of Twenty thousand pounds Current Money for the
faithful performance of the several duties required of him by the
"Act to appoint an Intendant of the Revenue," passed the last Ses-
sion, with John II. Stone and Robert Couden Esquires Securities.

Commissions issued to Joseph Gilpin, John L. Knight, Stephen
Hyland, John Dockery Thompson, Samuel Glenn, John Ward In-
spector, John Ward Veazy, John Cox, Samuel Miller, James Max-
well, Elihu Hall son Elisha, [p 19] William Matthews, Peter
Lawson, Sidney George, James Louttit, Nathan Norton, Patrick
Ewing, Jeremiah Baker, Thomas Russell, Samuel Evans, Nathaniel
Ramsey, and Michael Wallace appointed Justices of the Peace for
Caecil County, and to

Joseph Gilpin, Stephen Hyland, Jeremiah Baker, Thomas Russell
and Nathaniel Ramsey appointed Justices of the Orphans Court of
Caecil County.

The Council adjourned 'till Monday 11 o'clock.
