148 Journal of the State Council, 1784-1789.

An Order of the 13th. October last drawn by this Board on the
Eastern Shore Treasurer in favor of Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer
Esquire for One thousand five hundred pounds to enable him to
compleat his purchase of the Indians of Dorchester County of their
Lands in the said County is returned the Indians having declined
complying with their Contract.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.

Saturday nth. November 1786

Monday 13th. November 1786

The Council met.

Present the Honorable James Brice

Samuel T. Wright Esquires.

[p 180] Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to John
Parsons One pound, six shillings and eight pence Balance of five
months Pay due him as a soldier of the Maryland line per Certificate
of the Auditor General.

That the said Treasurer pay to Doctr. William Baker Twenty two
pounds, ten shillings for so much paid by him to John F. A. Priggs
for surveying and laying out land, sold said Baker by the State per
Account passed by the Aud'r. Gen'l.

Commissions issued to John Clagett appointed Inspector of
Taylors landing Warehouse in Anne Arundel County in the room
of Nicholas Watkins resigned.

Richard Walker appointed Inspector Bladensburgh Warehouse in
Prince George's County in the room of Abraham Boyd resigned.

William Bowie 3d. appointed Inspector of Upper Marlbro Ware-
house in Prince George's County in the room of Benjamin Benjamin
Brookes, deceased.

So Ends the Proceedings.

[p 181] The General Assembly of Maryland on Thursday the
thirtieth Day of November, One thousand seven hundred and eighty
six, having Unanimously rechosen William Smallwood Esquire
Governor, He qualified the same Day in the Senate Room in presence
of the Members of the General Assembly, by taking the several Oaths
required by the Constitution and Form of Government, and the Laws
of this State, and by subscribing a Declaration of his Belief in the
Christian Religion.
