And whereupon the said John Longden by John
Rousby his Attorney saith, that whereas he the said John Longden
for divers yeares last past was & still is Master of the Shipp Batche-
lour of Hull in the Kingdome of England dureing which tyme he
hath & now doth use & exercise the trade of Mrchandizer, & with the
said Shipp from the said port of Hull into this Province yearely
importing comodities of great Value And also M'chants Passengers
& Servants And whereas the said Thomas the twenty seventh day of
August in the yeare of our Lord One thousand six hundred Seventy
fiue att Hull aforesaid within the jurisdiction of this Court, in con-
sideracon that the said John att the special instance & request of him

the said Thomas Would carry & transport him the said Thomas in
his said Shipp from the said Port of Hull into any part of this
Province, did assume upon himselfe & to the said John faithfully
promise that he the said Thomas would well & faithfully pay & con-
tent to the said John so much money for his passage & transportacon
as the same should be reasonably worth when he should be there-
unto afterwards in the said Province required And also whereas the
said Tho: the twenty sixth day of August in the yeare of our Lord
one thousand six hundred Seventy six att Hull aforesaid within the
jurisdiction of this Court, in consideracon that the said John att the
speciall instance & request of him the said Tho: Would carry & trans-
port him the said Thomas & one man Servant of his the said Thomas
in his said Shipp from the said Port of Hull into any part of this
Province, did also assume upon himselfe & to the said John faith-
fully promise, that he the said Thomas would well & faithfully pay
& content to the said John so much money for his & his said man
Servants passage & transportacon as the same should be reasonably
worth when he should be afterward in the said Province thereunto
required And the said John in fact saith, that he giveing creditt to
the severall promises & assumpcons aforesaid att the speciall instance
& request of the said Tho: did in the said yeare One thousand six
hundred Seventy five transport & carry him the said Thomas & his
said Servant from the said Port into this Province in his said Shipp
And in the said yeare one thousand six hundred Seventy six did in
like manner transport & carry him the said Thomas & his said Ser-
vant from the said Port into this Province And that the said two
severall transportacons of him the said Thomas from the said Port
into this Province was reasonably worth the sume of twelve pounds
sterl, And that the transportacon of his said Servant from the said
Port into this Province was reasonably worth the sume of six
pounds sterl, in the whole amounting to Eighteen pounds sterl,
Nevertheles the said Thomas his said severall promises and as-
