assignes in the full & just Sume of nine thousand five hundred
pounds of good sound Mrchantable leafe tobacco in caske to be paid
att or upon the tenth day of October next ensueing the date thereof
upon his then dwelling plantacon in the County aforesaid, itt being
due for a Valuable consideracon by him allready received, for which
payment well & truely to be made he did binde himselfe his heyres
Execrs Admrs firmly by those prsents Notwithstanding which the said
sume of Nine thousand five Hundred pounds of tobacco to him the
said John hath not paid according to the tenour of the said writeing
obligatory though often thereunto required, but the same to him to
pay hitherto hath & still denyes to pay to the damage of the said
John Hartwell the sume of twelve thousand pounds of tobacco, &
thereupon he bringeth his suite
And the said Thomas Keyting by Robert Carvile his Attorney
cometh & defendeth the force & injury when &c and prayeth liberty
to imparle hereunto untill next Provinciall Court & itt is granted unto
him, the same day is giuen to the plaintiffe also
Now here att this day to witt the fourtenth day of March in the
fourth yeare of the Dominion of Charles Lord Baltemore &c Annoq
Doni 1678 cometh the said John Hartwell by his Attorney afore-
said & offereth himselfe against the said Thomas Keyting in the plea
aforesaid but the said Thomas cometh not but maketh default.
Therefore itt is considered by the Court here, that the said John
Hartwell recover against the said Thomas Keyting the aforesaid
Suine of Nine thousand five hundred pounds of tobacco debt As
also Eight hundred & ninety pounds of tobacco costs of suite And
the Defendt in mercy &c

Memorandum this day Vizt the Sixteenth

thousand six hundred Seventy Eight came
here in Court Benjamin Rozer of Charles

County Merchant, & exhibitteth his certaine bill of complaint against
George Thompson one of the Attorneys of this Court here prsent in
Court otherwise called George Thompson of st Maryes County in
the Province gentt of a plea that he render unto him the full & entire
quantity of six thousand one hundred Eighty nine pounds of good
sound Mrchantable leafe tobacco in cask which to him he oweth &
unjustly detaineth
And whereupon the said Benjamin Rozer by Christopher Rousby
his Attorney saith, that whereas the said George Thompson, upon
the fifteenth day of June Anno Doni One thousand six hundred
Seventy eight by his certaine bill or writing obligatory sealed with
the Seale of him the said George & here in Court produced whose
date is the day & yeare aforesaid, did owe & stand justly indebted
unto Benjamin Rozer of Charles County Mrchant in the full & entire
