or Parcel of Land in John Jeremiah Myer was Sent to the Upper
House by S. Wilson Esq:r and M.r Selby.
B. Calvert Esq:r from the Upper House delivers to M.r Speaker
the Bill Entituled an Act containing an Act Entituled an Act to
Prevent disabled and Superannuated Slaves from being Manumitted
&c and the Bill Entituled an Act to vest the Title of and in a certain
Lot or Parcel of ground in John Jeremiah Myar. Severally Indorsed
By the Upper House of Assembly 21:st May 1766 Read the first
and Second time by especial Order and will Pass

Which Bills were severally read here and Passed for Ingrossing
In Pursuance of the Summons of this House Served by the
Serjeant on Joseph Galloway Esq:r Sherriff of Ann Arundel County
Ordering him to Attend forthwith at the Bar of this House he At-
tended Accordingly and after the Petition of the Prisoners in Ann
Arundel County Goal and the Report from the Committee of Griev-
ances and Courts of Justice made thereon being read and Examina-
tion of Witnesses relative to the Allegations and facts contained in
the said Petition and on hearing said Joseph Galloway in his own
defence

The House Resolved that the said Joseph Galloway hath not
complied with his Duty as Sherriff and that he be Acquainted there-
with by the Speaker with a Caution to be more careful in Discharge
of his Duty in relation to the Prisoners and Public Goal for the
future and that he be Discharged from further Attendance on Pay-
ment of such fees as have arisen due to the Officers of this House
and the said J. Galloway Attending at the Bar of this House M:r
Speaker Acquainted him accordingly
The House Adjourns till the morrow morning at 8 of the Clock

Buchanan
J. Hammond Esq:r Appeared in the House
On Motion M.r Sothoron hath leave of Absence
the Order of the day being Read the House referred the matter
Proposed to be taken into consideration this morning until the
morrow morning

On Motion the Question was Put That the Bill Entituled an Act

for regulating Innholders and Ordinary keepers within this Prov-
ince be withdrawn and all the Entrys and Proceedings thereon be
Expunged. Resolved in the Negative
