A Supplementary Act to the Act entituled an Act for erecting a new
Parish in Kent County called Chester Parish and for Building a
Parish Church and enlarging a Chapel of Ease within the said
Parish

[Preamble]

Whereas the Inhabitants of Chester Town in Kent County and
other Inhabitants of Chester Parish in the said County have set forth
that in order to have a new and Commodious Chapel in the Town
aforesaid Sufficient to hold all the People that live Convenient to
Attend Divine Worship therein many well disposed People have
Voluntarily Subscribed large Sums of Money to the Amount of five
hundred Pounds or Upwards to be paid towards Building the said
Chapel in the said Town which with the fifty thousand Pounds of
Tobacco appropriated by the Act to which this is a supplement to
make an Addition to the House of Worship formerly erected in the
said Town the Bricks and Materials of the old Church and the Money
that might Arise by the Sale to the highest Bidders of such Pews as
should be made in the Second Story exclusive of a sufficient common
Gallery and such as may remain Undisposed off in the Lower Story
to such of the Freeholders of the said Parish as shall not have Pews
or Seats in the Lower Part the Proprietors of the Old Church and
all other Persons who are Owners of Lotts and reside in Town hav-
ing Seats in the lower Part of the said new Church (those that have
no Seats in the old paying the Costs of erecting said Pews in the New)
a good new Brick Chapel might be Built Sixty feet long forty feet
wide and two Story high with a Stone Foundation and well finished
off and that the Ground in the said Town already appropriated for
the Church is full small for a Burying Ground and that the said
Chapel would stand much better on a Part of the Publick Ground
laid out in the said Town for the Court House and that no Incon-
venience would Arise to the Publick from Placing the said Church
thereon with liberty of Inclosing a small Yard round the same And
have therefore prayed that an Act might Pass for the Purposes afore-
said and that some Gentlemen residing in the said Town who could
see the Work properly and faithfully executed might be impowered
by the said Act to carry it into Execution and to dispose of the
Pews when finished agreeable to the directions of the said Act

Be it therefore Enacted by the Right Honourable the Lord Pro-
prietary by and with the Advice and Consent of his Lordships Gov-
ernor and the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly and the
Authority of the same That Part of the Publick Ground in Chester
Town aforesaid at the Corner of high street and Cross Street of the
extent of ninety feet on high street and one hundred and twenty feet
on Cross Street shall be and is hereby Appropriated for the building
and Placing the said intended new Chapel and to Inclose a Yard
round the same and shall be and remain to the use of a Church or
Chapel in the said Town for ever but that no Person whatsoever
