The Lower House. 353


Monday June 6.th

The house met according to adjournment. The members were
called and all appeared as on Saturday, except M.r Griffith, M.r
Gantt, M.r M Tilghman, M.r Ridgley, M.r Moale, M.r Adair, M.r
Baxter and M.r Murdock. The proceedings of Saturday were read.
M.r Hall brings in and delivers to M.r speaker a bill entitled an
act for raising pence sterling for every hogshead of tobacco
exported out of this province; for the support of an Agent at London
for the service of this province: Which is read the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.
M.r Griffith appeared in the house.
The bill entitled an act to prevent the exportation of flour, staves
and shingles &c.a sent to the upper house by M.r Hanson and M.r
Sullivane.

Walter Dulany esquire from the upper house delivers to M.r
speaker the petition of Robert Lamar and the petition of Thomas
Jennings, which were severally indorsed. "By the upper house of
assembly June 6.th 1768 Read and referred to the consideration of
the lower house of assembly.

Which petitions were read here the first time and ordered to lie on
the table.
On motion, ordered that a bill be brought in to enable Thomas
Hunt executor of William Hunt, late of London, merchant, deceased
and Jonathan Smyth executive of Peter Bayard, late of Cecil county
deceased; to pay the monies therein mentioned; and that M.r Baker,
M.r Hollyday and M.r Ringgold do prepare and bring in the same.
Daniel Dulany esquire from the upper house delivers to M.r
speaker a bill entituled an act for recovery of certain amerciaments
and also upon defaults on executions; indorsed "By the upper house
of assembly June 3.d 1768: Read the first time and ordered to lie
on the table.

M.r Baxter, M.rAdair, M.r Ridgley and M.r Moale appeared in the
house.
