His excellencys speech read. Daniel Dulany esquire from the
upper house delivers to M.^r speaker, Sir William Johnsons letters,
a petition from sundry Indians, with other papers and letters relative
thereto, which are severally read and ordered to lie on the table
The house adjourns till to morrow morning 9 o'clock

Thursday May 26.^th

The house met according to adjournment. The members are
called and all appear, &c.^a
The proceedings of yesterday are read. M.^r John Ridgley, M.^r
John Moale and M.^r Robert Adair, delegates returned for Baltimore
County; M.^r Tosias Beall jun.^r M.^r William Murdock, delegates
returned for Prince Georges County; and M.^r Francis Ware, a dele-
gate returned for Charles County; appeared in the house
Ordered, that M.^r Deye, M.^r Tyler and M.^r Ringgold do go with
those gentlemen to the upper house to see them qualified. They
return and acquaint M.^r speaker they saw them qualified in the
usual manner. The gentlemen took their seats in the house
Ordered that the following rules be observed during this session
1.^st That no member of the house shall use any reviling speeches
or name any members by his proper name, but shall use some other
distinction, as, the gentleman who spoke last, or the like
2.^d That no member speak above once on any debate without
license of the house declared by the speaker, and if two persons or
more shall rise up together; the speaker shall appoint who shall
speak first and no member shall interrupt any other, until the
gentleman speaking, hath ended

3.^d That none shall deliver his opinion, or speak to any bill or
debate unless he shall stand up and reverently direct his speech to the
speaker

4.^th That every bill proposed by the house shall be read two several
days before it is sent to the upper house; and once after before it
be ingross'd; and that between every reading; one day shall be inter-
mitted; and that in that time the bill shall be laid on the table for
the perusal of all the members; unless on very urgent occasions,
M.^r speaker with the consent of the house shall dispense therewith,
and then, one bill being read twice at one sitting, shall be as sufficient
as if read several days, when so entered on the clerks journal
5.^th That no person come into the house of assembly while the
same is sitting, with sword or other weapon upon penalty of such
fine, as shall be imposed on them by the speaker at the discretion
of the house
6.^th That if any member bound to attend this assembly shall be
absent at the hours and place appointed, after the number of twelve
