Ordered that M.r Matthew Tilghman and M.r William Ward do:
go with those gentlemen to the upper house to see them qualified:
They return and acquaint M.r speaker they saw them qualified in
the usual manner. The gentlemen took their seats in the house
The house proceeded to chuse a clerk, and made choice of M.r
Turbutt Wright
Ordered, that M.r Daniel Sullivane and M.r William Hayward
do acquaint his excellency with the choice which this house hath
made of a clerk, and to desire his approbation. They return and
acquaint M.r speaker they delivered the message, and that his
excellency approved the choice

Ordered, That M.r Daniel Sullivane and M.r William Allen do
go with M.r Wright to the upper house to see him qualified as clerk
of this house. They return and acquaint M.r speaker that they saw
him take the several oaths to the government required by law, sign
the oath of abjuration, repeat and sign the test, and take the follow-
ing oath of office:
You Turbutt Wright do swear that as clerk of the lower house
of assembly you shall true entries make of all such matters and things
as by the honorable speaker for the time being and that house, shall be
to you directed: The secrets of the said house you shall not divulge,
to the prejudice of the house or any member thereof; but shall in all
things as clerk to the said house well and truly demean yourself,
according to the best of your knowledge: So help you God
The house appointed M.r Robert Saunders, serjeant at arms, and
Cornelius Howard, door keeper to the lower house of assembly
Ordered that the clerk do certify the same to M.r Reverdy Ghiselin,
and desire him to administer to them the several oaths to the govern-
ment and the oath of their respective offices
M.r Reverdy Ghiselin certifies to the house that M.r Robert
Saunders and Cornelius Howard, had taken the several oaths to
the government required by law, subscribed the oath of abjuration
repeated and signed the test before him and severally took the fol-
lowing oath of office, viz.t
You Robert Saunders do swear, that you will faithfully diligently,
and honestly, discharge the office of serjeant at arms to the lower
house of assembly, and that you shall not disclose or reveal the
secrets thereof: So help you God
You Cornelius Howard do swear that you will faithfully, dili-
gently and honestly discharge the office of door keeper to the lower
house of assembly, and that you shall not disclose or reveal the
secrets thereof. So help you God
The house adjourns till 2 o'clock
Post meridiem. The house met &c.a The proceedings of yester-
day were read.
