Read and referred the Petitions of the following Prisoners, Viz.t
Edward Power, Benjamin Buckler, Clement Spalding, John Dart,
and Alexander Anderson of Saint Marys County, and John Long
of Baltimore County Sent by Sam.l Chamberlaine Esq,,r
Read the second time, in this House, the Bill Entitled An Act
for the Preservation of the Breed of Fish, and will Pass
Also read the second time in this House the Bill Entitled An
Act to prevent any Obstructions of the Navigation of the River
Potowmack, and will Pass with the following Amendments. After
"Fish Dams," in the fifth line from the top of the first Page leave
out the Words "and other Erections already made or hereafter to
be made" and insert in place thereof "or other Devices for catching
of Fish already or hereafter to be made, and all other Erections
hereafter to be made." In the fifth line of the second Page from
the top leave out the Words "Use of the Public School in Fred-
erick County" and insert in place thereof the Words "be paid to
the Sheriff of Frederick County to be by him Accounted for and
paid to the Justices of said County and by them applied towards
clearing or improveing the Navigation of the said Rivers.
After the last enacting Clause, add the following Proviso "Pro-
vided always that this Act, or any thing therein contained, shall not
hinder, or be construed to hinder, or prevent the erecting, or causing
to be erected any Bridge, or Bridges, over the said River Monocasy,
with convenient Arches for admitting of Boats, and other Vessells
of Burthen, passing thro' the same, with the least Obstruction that
may be" these sent by Benedict Calvert Esq.r
