Gentlemen,
We have returned the Bill, entitled, An Act of Gratitude to the
Right Honourable William Pitt, Earl of Chatham, and the Right
Honourable Charles Pratt, Lord Cambden, with a Negative because
you have thereby assumed the exclusive Right of appropriating or
applying a Sum of the Public Money, expressly by Law Subject to
the Disposition of the General Assembly. If you will frame a Bill
for the Purposes of that which we have rejected, in a Manner
consistent with our Rights, we shall be willing to give our Assent

to it. Signed by Order U. Scott, Cl. Up. Ho.

The Bill, entitled, An Act concerning the Name of John Beale
Bordley, was read the second Time, and passed, and sent to the
Upper House, by T. Johnson, and J. Hall, Esq.rs
On reading the second Time, the Bill, entitled, An Act for amend-
ing and repairing the Roads in Baltimore County; the Question was
put, That the said Bill do pass ? Resolved in the Affirmative

termined in the Affirmative by the Honourable Speaker; and the
said Bill was accordingly indorsed, Read the second Time, and
will pass.
B. Calvert, Esq from the Upper House, delivers to M.r Speaker,
the Bill, entitled, An Act concerning the Name of John Beale Bord-
ley; Indorsed, "By the Upper House of Assembly, December 5,
1766: Read the second Time, and will pass." Which Bill was read
here, and passed for ingrossing.

was read, and passed for ingrossing
