Friday, November 28.
The House met.
All appeared as Yesterday.
S. Chase, Esq appeared in the House.
M.r Lecompte hath Leave of Absence.
M.r Mackall appeared in the House
Ordered, That M.r Grahame, and M.r Gantt, do go with that
Gentleman to the Upper House, to see him take the Oath of Abju-
ration, prescribed by the Act of Parliament passed last Session.
They return, and acquaint M.r Speaker, that that Gentleman had
taken the Oath aforesaid, and subscribed the same.
The Bill entitled, An Act for the Payment of the Public Claims,
for emitting Bills of Credit, and for other Purposes therein men-
tioned, was read the second Time, and will pass; and was sent to the
Upper House, with the Journal of Accounts, and Lists of Debts an-
nexed, by M.r Murdock, Esq and seven more.

The Petition of Mayberry Helmes, was read a second Time; and,
after hearing at the Bar the Objections thereto, the same was
Granted.

The House adjourns till 2 of the Clock.

Post Meridiem.
The House met.

J. Ridout, Esq from the Upper House delivers to M.r Speaker,
the Bill, entitled, An Act to remedy the Evils arising from the retail-
ing Strong Liquors in small Quantities without License, &.ta In-
dorsed, "By the Upper House of Assembly, Nov. 22. 1766:. Read
the second Time, and will not pass.

Signed by Order U. Scott, Cl. Up. Ho."

On Motion, Ordered, That John Hall, T. Johnson, S. Chase, T.
Ringgold, and W. Murdock, Esq.rs do prepare and bring in a Mes-
sage to enforce the Passage of the Bill to remedy the Evils arising
from the Sale of Strong Liquors in small Quantities, &.ta

T. Ringgold, Esq brings in and delivers to M.r Speaker, a Bill,
entitled, An Act of Gratitude to the Right Honourable William
Pitt, Earl of Chatham, and the Right Honourable Charles Pratt,
Lord Cambden: Which was read the first Time, and ordered to lye
on the Table.

T. Ringgold, Esq brings in and delivers to M.r Speaker, a Bill,
entitled, a Supplementary Act to the Act, entitled, An Act to prevent
the Mischiefs arising from the Multiplicity of useless Dogs, and
other Purposes therein mentioned: Which was read the first Time,
and ordered to lye on the Table.
