An earlier Meeting in Assembly would have been more agreeable
to us; but when we consider, that the last Month was chiefly taken
up with the Sitting of our Courts of Law, we are sensible your Ex-
cellency could not have convened us sooner, with any Prospect of
Dispatch to the Public Business. We should be greatly wanting
in our Duty to our most gracious Sovereign, and Respect for the
Parliament, if we did not take this first Opportunity to express the
Sentiments of Loyalty and Gratitude, with which our Breasts are
filled, for his Majesty's and the Parliament's Attention to the
Interests of his American Subjects. We thank your Excellency
for your Congratulation, and desire you to accept of Ours, on the
late happy Turn of Affairs in Favour of these Colonies, and the
pleasing Prospect now afforded us
Which was read and assented to, and Signed, by Order of the
House by the Honourable Speaker

Ordered, That James Hollyday, Esq and M.r Parran, do acquaint
the Governor, that this House hath prepared an Address to be pre-
sented to him, and desires to know when and where he will please

to receive it. They return and acquaint M.r Speaker, that the
Governor signified he was ready to receive the Address imme-
diately, in the Council Chamber.
Ordered, That William Murdock, Esq with the rest of the Com-
mittee appointed to prepare an Address to the Governor, do present
the same
The House appointed H. Hollyday, Esq M.r Jacob, M.r H. Hall,
and M.r Wright, a Committee of Elections & Privileges. M.r Gra-
hame, S. Wilson, J. Hall, J. Hammond Esq.rs M.r Worthington, and
M.r Hanson a Committee to enquire what Laws will expire with the
Close of this Session.
The House adjourns till two of the Clock.

Post Meridiem.
The House met.
On Motion of S. Wilson Esq Leave is given to bring in a Bill
to regulate Inn holders and Ordinary Keepers, within this Province.
Ordered, That S. Wilson, H. Hollyday, J. Hammond, Esq.rs M.r
Hanson, M.r Grahame, and J. Hall, Esq.r of Annapolis, do prepare
and bring in the same.
On Motion of S. Wilson, Esq Leave is given to bring in a Bill
for licensing Hawkers and Pedlars.
Ordered, That S. Wilson, H. Hollyday, J. Hammond, J. Hall,
Esq.rs M.r Hanson, M.r Grahame, and M.r Worthington, do prepare
and bring in a Bill accordingly.
On Motion of M.r Worthington, Ordered, That a Committee be
appointed to enquire, and report to the House, by what Law or
