Present as in the Morning

Mess.rs Earle and Harris bring up the following Bills Read the
first and second time in the Lower House and will Pass
A Bill Entituled An Act to ease the Inhabitants of this Province,
and to impower the Justices of the several Counties to bind out
the Persons therein mentioned Apprentices Read the first time in
this House and ordered to lye on the Table
A Bill Entituled An Act for the Security of Purchasers and
others being Protestants Claiming by or from Aliens Read the
first time in this House and ordered to lye on the Table
A Bill by Mess..rs Selby and Jacobs Entituled An Act to aid
defective Common Recoveries Read the first and second time in
the Lower House and will Pass Read the first time in this House
and ordered to lye on the Table
Adjourned until to Morrow Morning 10 of the Clock

Wednesday Morning 26.th November 1766.
This House met again according to Adjournment
Present as Yesterday.

Read the second time in this House, the Bill Entituled An Act to
Ease the Inhabitants of this Province, and to impower the Justices
of the several Counties to bind out the Persons therein mentioned
Apprentices, and will Pass with the following Amendments Sent
by John Ridout Esq..r

p. 347

In the 3.d line from the bottom of the Ist Page leave out the
Words "Provided always" and before the Word "enacted" in the
same line, insert the Word "further." In the 4..th line of the 2.d
Page after the Word "by" insert the Words "Virtue of" In the
6..th and 7..th lines of the same Page, leave out the Words "where
such Child shall be bound out Apprentice" In the 9..th line of the
same Page after the Words "non est" insert the following Words
"and if the Mother shall appear in Court, and offer Sufficient
Security for the maintenance of her Child or if any Person on
her Behalf shall in Court offer such Sufficient Security then and in
such Case the Court shall not have Power to bind out such Child
Apprentice, but shall take such Security for his or her Maintenance
Adjourned until 3 of the Clock in the Afternoon
