           Charles County Court Proceedings, 1666—1668.     45

     formerlie paid unto Robert Page for Mr Beanes use, and this Depont Liber C
     further saith not.
       Hereupon the Crt could not proceed to Judgemt for that Mr Beane [p. 94]
     being a partie concerned there were not Comissionrs enough present
     to Constitute a full Courte and therefore the Busines was respited
     till the next Courte;

       The Plaintife Sumoning the Defendts in his aeon of Debt upon
     accot preferreth his following declaracon (vizt)
       To the Worple the Comrs of Charles Countie
       The Plaintife declares agt the Defendts as Adminrs of Captaine
     Rob. Troope deed For tht Cap. Troop in his Life time stood indebted
     to the Plaintife in the sume of 394 lb of tobaccoe 3 Barrels of Corne
     and three thousand nine hundred 6d Nailes all due to the Plaintife
     as aforesd Whereupon he brings his suite humblie Craveing order
     of this Worpie Courte for his said Debt And &c.

       Whereupon the Defendts confesse a Judgment to the Plaintife
       Ordered therefore That the Defendts satisfie unto the Plaintife the
     said Debt of 394 lb of tobac 3 Barrels of Corne and 3900 sixe penie
     Nailes
     Japhet Griphin Plf    John Hatch Defendt
     p Aturñ George Thompson  p Aturñ Dan. Johnson
       Mr George Thompson produceth this ensueing Lettr of Atturney
     and requesteth it may be recorded (vizt)
       Knowe all men by these presents That I Japheth Griphin of
     Charles Countie Planter doe hereby constitute, ordaine, and appoint
     George Thompson of Charles Countie in the Province of Marieland
     gent my true and lawfull Attorney giving and hereby and hereby [p. 95]
     graunting unto my said Attorney full power and lawfull authoritie
     to constitute one or more Attorneys under him and him, them, or
     anie of them at his will and pleasure againe to revoke, ratifleing
     and allowing and holding firme and stable all and whatsoever my
     said Attorney or Attorneys shall lawfullie doe or cause to be done
     as fullie largelie and amplie as if I my selfe were personallie present,
     as witnes my hand, and seale this 22th of November Ano 1666
     and in the eighteenth yeare of the raigne of our most gracious Sover-
     aigne Lord King Charles by the grace of God King of England,
     Scotland, France, and Ireland Defendr of the faith &cSigned, sealed, and delivered        Japhet X Griphin
       in the psence of us           his marke 0
