           Charles County Court Proceedings, 1666—1668.     111

       Mr John Wornall upon oath deposeth That an Account of 1500 lb                 Liber C
     of tobaccoe due from Arthur Turner latelie decd to the estate of
     Richard Smyth decd wch was produced in Court by Mr Francis
     Pope Administrator of the said Smyths estate is a just and true
     account

       Whereas Col. Gerrard Fowke Comenced suite against John Swaine
     this Court for the Sume of 880 lb of tobaccoe and the Sherrife re-
     turned a Non est Inventus upon the writt It is ordered That an
     Attachmt issue forthwith to Secure the value thereof out of the
     Croppe of the said John Swaine in the hands of Thomas Hussey

       Whereas John Hutchinson Comenced Suite against John Swaine
     for the Sume of 274 lb of tobaccoe and the Sherrife returned a Non est
     Inventus upon the writt It is ordered That an Attachment forthwith
     issue to secure the value thereof in the Sherrifes hands out of the
     Croppe of the said John Swaine in the hands of Thomas Hussey

       Whereas Nicholas Emerson Comenced Suite against John Swaine
     for the Sume of Seaven hundred and twelve pounds of tobaccoe and
     the Sherrife returned a non est Inventus upon the writt It is ordered
     That an Attachment forthwth issue to the Sherrife to secure the
     value thereof out of the Croppe of the said John Swaine in the
     hands of Thomas Hussey

     June 18th 1667.
       These may Certifie all whom it may Concerne That I Thomas
     Smoote of Charles Countie in the Province of Marieland have for a
     valueable Consideracon in hand allreadie by me receaved Bargained
     for Sould, and Delivered unto Mris Bridget Legate of the Same
     Countie and province one Cowe and calfe going by the name of
     Gentle and being Marked as followeth to wit overkeeld on the right
     eare, and on the left a Swallowe forke, and to her and her heires
     for ever And doe by these presents Warrant the Sale and Deliverie
     of the said Cowe her Calf e with the male and female increase of
     both from me my heires Executors Administrators and Assignes to
     keep enjoy and possesse the same without Molestation from me or                  [p. 249]
     mine or anie other person or persons whatsoever As witnes my hand
     the Day and Date above            his
     Signed Sealed and Delivered Thomas   Smoote
       in the presence of us          marke

       These may Satisfie all whom it may Concerne That I William
