the Time being who are hereby authorized & impowered to apply
the same towards Building an Addition & Galleries to the said
Chapel in such Manner as to them shall seem most necessary and
convenient and to no other Use or Purpose whatsoever

And Whereas it is also represented to this general Assembly that
the Parish Church of Saint Pauls Parish aforesaid is old and very
much decayed, so that it is become necessary that a new Church
should be built in the Room of the old one which is not worth
repairing, and that it is the desire of the Parishioners of the said
Parish that the Sum of eighty thousand Pounds of Tobacco should
be levied on the Taxable Inhabitants of the said Parish by three
equal annual Assessments and applied towards the Building and
Compleating a new Parish Church at the Place where the present
Parish Church stands Be it therefore further Enacted that the
Justices of Queen Anns and Talbot Counties aforesaid shall be
and they are hereby impowered and required to levy on the taxable
Inhabitants of Saint Pauls Parish af.d within their said Counties
respectively the Sum of Eighty thousand Pounds of Tobacco to-
gether with the Sheriffs Salary of five Pounds of Tobacco p Centum
for Collecting the same by three equal Assessments in the same
Manner and at the same Times as above directed for the Levying the
said Sum of thirty thousand Pounds of Tobacco which Sum of
eighty thousand Pounds of Tobacco shall and may be collected by
the Sheriffs of the said Counties respectively together with their
Commission as aforesaid and may be paid and discharged by the
Parishioners aforesaid in the same Manner that other County and
Parish Taxes are collected, paid, and discharged and shall by the
said Sheriffs be accounted for and paid to the Vestry and Church
Wardens of Saint Pauls Parish aforesaid for the Time being, who
are hereby authorised and required to apply the same towards
Building and Compleating a new Parish Church at the Place where

the Parish Church of Saint Pauls Parish aforesaid now stands in
such Manner as to them shall seem most convenient, and to no
other Use or Purpose whatsoever.

And to the End that the said County Courts may be the better
enabled to Apportion the said Sums of thirty thousand and eighty
thousand Pounds of Tob.o among the Taxable Inhabitants of Saint
Pauls Parish aforesaid, Be it further Enacted that the Justices of
the said County Courts shall Cause the Clerks of the said Courts
to certifie each to the Other by the third Day of their Courts to
be held in the Month of November next, and by the third Day of
their two next succeeding November Courts the Number of taxable
Persons which shall be in that Part of Saint Pauls Parish which
shall be in Queen Anns County and in that Part of the said Parish
