Taxables each Person Pays in the County with the certificates pro-
duced that thereby it may be found what persons have complied with
this Act and who have failed therein

[In Talbot
County,
Three]

And be it further Enacted that from and after the first Day of
March aforesaid every Master Mistress Owner of a Family or single
Taxable in Talbot County shall yearly before the laying of the Levy
for said County produce to some Justice of the Peace of said County
three Squirrel Scalps or Crows Heads for every Taxable they shall
pay Levy for that Year And the several Justices of the peace before
whom such Squirrel Scalps or Crows Heads shall be brought Shall
burn or cause to be burnt or otherwise destroyed such Squirrel
Scalps or Crows Heads and give such person a Certificate under his
Hand of the Number of Squirrel Scalps or Crows Heads so brought
before him to be by the person obtaining the Same laid before the
Justices of the same County at the Time of laying the County Levy
and the Justices of the County aforesaid shall then Cause a List of
the Taxables to be laid before them in order from thence to com-
pare the Number of Taxables each person pays in the said County
with the Certificates produced that it may be found who have com-
plied with this Act and what persons have failed therein.

And be it further Enacted by the Authority advice and Consent
aforesaid that every Person that shall fall short of producing a
Certificate of Squirrel Scalps or Crows heads in Proportion to their
Taxables according to the directions and exigence of this Act the
Justices of the Several and respective County Courts wherein such
Person or Persons Shall reside at the time of laying the County Levy
are hereby impowered and required for each Squirrel Scalp or Crowes
Head Such Person shall fall Short in manner aforesaid to Levy upon
Such Person the sum of two Pounds of Tobacco to be upon Exe-
cution and collected by the Sheriff of the County in the Same manner
as the Publick and County Levies are, to be applied towards the
defraying the County Charge

be made]

Provided always that no Justice of the Peace Shall give a Cer-
tificate of Such Squirrel Scalp or Crows Head so produced unless
Proof is made by Oath (or Affirmation if a Quaker) of the Person
Producing the Same or Some other credible Person that the Squirrels
or Crows of which those are the Scalps or Heads were actually
killed in the County where produced, any Thing in this Act to the
Contrary Notwithstanding.

in Kent and

Anne's]

And whereas it is represented to this present General Assembly
that red Foxes have been found to be very injurious to the In-
habitants of Kent and Queen Ann's Countyes Be it Enacted by the
Authority aforesaid that from and after the end of this Present
Session of Assembly every Person who Shall kill or Destroy any
red Fox in the aforesaid Counties of Kent and Queen Ann's and
Shall bring the Head of the same to any Justice of the Peace for
