for repairing the old Church of the said Parish which was not
appropriated by the said Act towards building the said new Church
and that over and above the said one hundred and thirty seven
Pounds seventeen Shillings and ten pence the Quantity of eighty
thousand Pounds of Tobacco will be necessary for the Compleatly
finishing the said new Church and inclosing the church yard thereto.
They have therefore prayed that an Act may pass to appropriate the
said Sum of Money and also to impower the Justices of the said
County Court to levy on the taxable Inhabitants of the said Parish
the Quantity of eighty Thousand Pounds of Tobacco for the com-
pleatly finishing the said new Church and inclosing the Church
Yard thereto

Be it therefore enacted by the Right Honourable the Lord Pro-
prietary by and with the advice and consent of his Lordship's Gov-
ernor and the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly and the
Authority of the same that the Justices of Anne Arundel County
Court shall and they are hereby impowered and required at the
time of their laying the County Levy of the said County in Novem-
ber Court one Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty five to assess
on the Taxable Inhabitants of the said Parish the Quantity of eighty
Thousand Pounds of Tobacco together with a Salary to the Sheriff
of the said County for collecting the same of five per Centum and
the said Sheriff is hereby impowered and directed to levy and collect
the same in the Same manner as Publick and County levies are levied
and collected and shall also account for and pay the same to the
Rector Vestrymen and Church Wardens of the said Parish for the
Time being or the Major part of them which said Tobacco when
so collected accounted for and paid and also the said Sum of one
hundred and Thirty Seven Pounds seventeen shillings and ten pence
shall by the said Rector Vestrymen and Church Wardens or the
Major part of them applied to the compleatly finishing the said
new Church and inclosing the said Church yard thereto and if any
ballance thereof should remain such ballance shall be by the said
Rector Vestrymen and Church Wardens or the major part of them
applied in and towards the necessary repairs of the said Parish
buildings

Provided always and be it enacted that every Taxable Inhabitant
of the said Parish may pay and discharge the said Assessment in
Money at the rate and in the manner that publick and County levies
are payable any thing herein contained to the contrary Notwith-
standing
