ANNE'S COUNTY, 1763
[A PETITION, UNDATED, BUT KNOWN TO HAVE BEEN
PRESENTED IN THE UPPER HOUSE OCTOBER 27, 1763,
FROM THE INHABITANTS OF CHRIST CHURCH PARISH,
KENT ISLAND, TO THE GOVERNOR AND ASSEMBLY, PRAY-
ING THAT A PART OF ST. PAUL'S PARISH, KENT COUNTY,
BE TAKEN OFF, AND ADDED TO CHRIST CHURCH PARISH,
THUS AFFORDING A SUFFICIENT INCOME TO THE LATTER
PARISH TO ENABLE IT TO SECURE A MINISTER WHO WOULD
ABIDE IN THE PARISH. THE UPPER HOUSE REJECTED THIS
PETITION WITHOUT EXPLANATION; SEE PAGES liii, 236].

To his Excellency Horatio Sharpe Esq.r Governor and Com-
mander in Chief in and over the province of Maryland and the
upper and lower houses of Assembly now Conven'd. the Petition of
the Inhabitants of Christs Church Parish on Kent Island in Queen
Anns County most humbly sheweth, that your Petitioners has Been
a long time without a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ Oc-
cationed by the smallness of the parish which is a very great hardship
wee labour under, on Account of Receiving the Holy Sacrament of
the Lords Supper, Baptiseing Children & Visiting the sick &c
Prays that an Acct of assembly may pass to take of as much from
Saint Pauls parish & add to the aforesaid Parish as will make a
full Competency for a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Abide
with us as they do in other Parishes and your Petitioners in duty
bound will Ever pray
