Men aforesaid, the Sum of Eight Pounds Current Money, over and
above the Encouragement given by his Majesty. And the better
to enable and encourage the Officers who may be employed in Enlist-
ing the said Men, to be expeditious in doing their Duty, there shall
be allowed to each Officer, who may be authorised for that Purpose,
the Sum of Twenty Shillings for each Man, able-bodied, and of the
Age aforesaid, which he shall Enlist.
XXX. And be it further Enacted, That it shall and may be lawful
for the Governor and Commander in Chief of this Province, for
the Time being, to issue Commissions for raising the said Eighty-
four Men, and the Agents aforesaid, are hereby impowered and
required to draw out of the Office aforesaid, the said Sum of Seven
Hundred and Fifty-six Pounds, and deliver out the same, to be
expended, to the Officers who shall be appointed to levy and raise
the said Men; and the said Money shall be by the said Officers dis-
posed of, and accounted for, and the Remainder thereof, if any
there should be in the Hands of the said Agents or Officers, shall
be disposed of, and the Whole accounted for by the said Agents,
in like Manner, on the like Conditions, by the same Times, and under

the like Penalties, as is directed, required, or imposed, relative to the
aforesaid Four Hundred Men, which are to be raised and supported
by this Province as herein before directed.
XXXI. And to prevent any Abuses or Impositions by Public
House-Keepers, in whose House any Soldier may be quartered or
billeted; Be it Enacted, That no Public House-Keeper, at any Time
before the First Day of April, in the Year One Thousand Seven
Hundred and Sixty-three, shall charge to, or receive from, any
Officer under the Degree of a Captain, or private Soldier, quartered
or billeted in his, or her House, more than the following Rates, viz.
For a Commission Officer, under the Degree of a Captain, for his
Lodging, and Diet of such good and wholsome Food as is usually
provided by Ordinary-Keepers in this Province, with small Beer or
Cyder, the Sum of One Shilling and Six-pence Current Money per
Diem; and for a private Soldier, for his Lodging and Diet as afore-
said, with small Beer or Cyder, the sum of One Shilling per Diem.
XXXII. And be it further Enacted, That if any Person shall,
from and after the End of this Session of Assembly, before the
First Day of April, in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and
Sixty-three, harbour, conceal or assist, any Deserter from the Service
aforesaid, knowing him to be such, or shall knowingly buy, or ex-
change, or otherwise receive, any Cloaths, Arms, or Military Ac-
coutrements, from any Soldier, or Deserter from his Majesty's Ser-
vice, or the Service of any of his Colonies in America, the Person so
offending shall forfeit for such Offence, the Sum of Ten Pounds
Current Money.
