other Publick Creditors while we have so much Reason to be per-
suaded of its Rectitude in the matters contested between us the
Situation of the Members of your House is very different from that
of your Honours for besides the Superiority in point of private

fortune, the very Lucrative Offices you hold & would make the delay

of payment in this Case a trifling inconvenience to you, but as it is

otherwise with us you cannot expect our acquiesence in your propo-
sition, and therefore we hope you will excuse us when we Say it
rather appears to us an Ostentation than a real mark of Disinterested-
ness or of your Equity and tender concern for the Publick Creditors.

Ordered that Mr Dulany and Mr Graham do present the Address
to the Governor with the following Extract of the Report of the
Committee of the paper Office (Vizt)
An Extract from the Report of the Committee appointed by both
Houses of Assembly to Inspect the Office and proceedings of the
Commissioners for Emitting Bills of Credit established by Act of
Assembly,
Your Committee find that there is Still due on the Act for En-
couragement of Jonas Green passed in Sept.r 1756 from William
Hedges late Sheriff of Caecil Cot.y £10..10..0, and John Fendall late
Sheriff of Charles County £17..10..0.

And that the following Sums reported last Session to be due from,
the Sundry Sheriffs on Ordinary Lycences are Still unpaid, Vizt
John Risteau late Sheriff of Baltimore Cot.y......... £121...10.. 0
Henry Morgan late Sheriff of Said County.......... 26.. 2.. 6
Thomas Sheredine late Sheriff of Said County....... 24.. 5.. 6
John Smith late Sheriff of Caecil County............ 49.. 8.. 4
John Parran late Sheriff of Calvert County.......... 11..17.. 6
Osbourn Sprigglate Sheriff of Prince Georges County 131..16.. 5 1/2

Your Committee have inspected the returns & payments of the
Several officers and Collectors of the Funds under the aforementioned
Act and find the following deficient in their Duty Vizt The Sheriff
of St Marys County for the Batchelors Tax in 1763, and the
Collector of Excise of said County for One years Excise due the
29.th Sept.r 1763, and the Clerk of Said County has made no pay-
ments Since Feb.y 25, 1762
