Gentlemen
Having by our Message of the 19.th Instant acquainted you with
the Resolution of this house, We cannot help thinking your Yester-
days Message some what irregular, and not altogether calculated to
preserve the Harmony we wish might Subsist between the two
Houses, as we observe by the Journal that the affair of a College
was under the Consideration of the Lower House Several years Ago
& that during the session held in April 1761 it was again moved &
Deliberated on in that house of which most of you Gentlemen were
Members, We can Easily account for the Bills appearing at this time
to a Majority of your House so plain Simple and perfect, but as we
see it in a very different Light, and think the Establishment of a
College here a matter that requires the most mature Consideration,
We did not chuse, however Solicitous We are to have a College
established on a good Foundation to determine hastily thereon espe-
