The house met according to Adjournment &c.a
Mr J. Hammond appeared in the house
On Motion leave given to bring in a Bill to erect a Seminary for
Learning in this Province.
Ordered that M.r J. Tilghman M.r J. Hall Col.o Tilghman M.r
Murdock Mr Ringgold Mr Johnson Mr Bealle M.r Hayward Mr
Hammond Mr Key Mr Hanson Mr Dulany and Mr Allen be a Com-
mittee to enquire into ways & means to raise a Sum Sufficient for the
purpose aforesaid and to make Report thereof to the house,
The petition of the Subscribers Inhabitants of Ann,le County for
themselves and others praying leave to bring in a Bill for erecting a
Town at Elk Ridge landing in said County Referred from the last
Session to the Consideration of this Assembly being now read It is
thereupon Ordered that an hearing be had thereon on Wednesday
the 19.th Instant at the Bar of this house and that two days Notice of
this Order be given by some Person on behalf of the petition to
Mr Charles Hammond junr heir at Law of the deceased Philip
Hammond Esq.r
Mr J. Mackall hath leave of Absence for a few days.
The house adjourns till the Morrow Morning at 9, of the Clock

Read the first time & Ordered to lye on the table (and thus) By
the Upper house of Assembly 12.th Oct.r 1763. Read the Second
time and will not pass.
