[No. XV]
|
An Act to enable James Hollyday, legal Representative of James
Hollyday, Esquire, deceased, late Treasurer of the Eastern Shore,
to draw Bills for the Money therein mentioned.
|
|
|
[Preamble.]
|
Whereas the said James Hollyday, by his humble Petition to this
General Assembly, hath set forth, That the said late Treasurer re-
mitted the Sterling Duties received by him for purchasing Arms and
Ammunition, and for supporting County Schools, to William Hunt,
Merchant in London, by Order of the General Assembly, and that at
the Time of the Death of the said late Treasurer there was remaining
in the Hands of the said William Hunt, of the said Duties, a Ballance
of Two Hundred and Sixty Pounds, Nine Shillings, and One Penny,
Sterling, out of which Ballance the said William Hunt paid, as the
Petitioner believes, the Sum of Fifty Pounds, Three Shillings, and
Ten Pence Half-penny, Sterling, to the Visitors of Anne-Arundel
County School, after the Decease of the said late Treasurer, on the
Draught of his Executrix, Mrs. Sarah Hollyday, but hath since
refused to pay the Petitioner's Draught for Forty-seven Pounds,
Three Shillings, and Three Pence Half-penny, on the Order of the
Visitors of Dorchester County School, to Hall Caille, apprehending
that the Petitioner had no Right to draw for the Money remitted to
him the said William Hunt, by the said late Treasurer, by Reason
whereof the Bills to Hall Caille were protested, and were afterwards
paid, for the Honour of the Petitioner, by his Correspondent in
London. And whereas it appears to this General Assembly, that
the Facts set forth in the said Petition, are true, and that the said
James Hollyday, the Petitioner, is Executor of the said Mrs. Sarah
