 The Copie of the bound for securitie Followeth        Liber A
    Bee it knowen unto all men by these prsents that wee and Either
  of us Thomas Hawkins of Popeles Iland, & Thomas Coll, of the
  Countie of Prouidence doe binde & ingage or selues, our Heires,
  Executors, Administr, or Assignes Joyntly & seuerally, in the sume
  of fourtie thousand pounds of tobacco in Caske to saue & keepe
  harmies, the Court & Countie of Kent, from all damadge, detriment
  or losse, which shall any way bee Ocassioned, by mr Henery Carline,
  in the office of a sheriffe without damadge to any pson; And for
  Confirmation heareof we haue heareunto put 0r hands & scales this
  2th of July, 1656          Thomas hawckins •

  Deare hath made sall of Eaight Cowes, with all theire future
  Incrasse to mr Henerie Carline, for the usse off mr Thomas Hawkins
  These prsents doe thearefore wittnes, tht Iff the sd Jno Deare
  shall well & truly pforme a Certaine Condition datted the 9th of
  May 1656 whearein the sd Deare is bound to deliü flue Cowes &
  theire Calues to the sd Hawkines; That then the sd bill of sall
  of Eaight Cowes to bee void & non Effect, or Els to Remaine in full
  force; And further mr Henery Carline Attorney for the sd Hawkines,
  doth heareby Couenant that the sd Deare shall haue the sd Cattell
  in his Owne Custodie and possession till the tym & Expiration of
  the sd Condition, and wheareas in the forementioned Condition, the
  sd Deare is to deliü the Cattell att Popeleyes Island, The sd mr
  Henery Carline doth hearby pmis and Couenaunt for the use of the
  sd Hawkines to accept in steed of the flue Cowes at Popelese Island
  of six Cowes heare upon Kent, to bee payd at the tym & day men
  tioned in the sd Condition, puided the bee sixe good tame Cowes &
  that hee deliü them upon his owne plantacon with Calues & els, as
  is Exprest in the sd Condition, wittnes my hand this 30th of June
