Kent County Court Proceedings, 1648-1656.39 In the name of God Amen I Edward Tarant beeinge very sicke Liber A of bodie but of pfecte sence and Memory thancks bee to God, doth [fol. 108] now make my last will and Testament in maner and form followinge I bequeath my bodie to the ground and my soull unto God tht gaue it in Confident hope of a Joyfull Ressurection to hue foreuer with Christ my Redeemer I giue and bequeath my Estate after my Just debtes are satisfied unto my sister Rebecka and my sister Elizabeth and to my Nurst in Bristoll to bee equally deuided betwixt them only on hohds of tobacco unto Capt~ Joseph Wickes for his tender Care of mee in my sicknes whom I doe by this my last will and Testament apoint my Ouerseer In trust to see this my will pformed, as allsoe I giue unto Charles steward three of my hoggs and unto this my last will and Testament I haue sett my hand this of Nouembr 1655 Wittnes Jos: Wickes Charles steuart This Will proued in Open Court by the testemony of Charles Stuart and Capt Joseph Wickes Nouember 29th 1655 p me Tho: Hill Clar At a Court houlden for kent January the First 1655 at the hous of [fol. 109] mr Tho: Hinson high sheriffe for the Countie mr Phillip Conier mr Henery Morgan mr Joseph Weickes Capt Jno Russell mr wm Eliot Tho: Hill sinior hauinge pettissioned the Court & mad his Rights of Land appeare undr mr Tho: Hattons hand formerly secrat~ late dessassed For on Thousand Ackers declaringe his Intent to enter a Cauiet accordinge to an Act of Assembly no 28; which was not denied, but Assented too The sd Tho: Hill doth theare fore Enter a Cauiet for a Certaine tract of land, bounded to the Southward with tht plantacon formerly Copedges & now in the possession of Jno Salter; To the Westward with the head of the Bay side plantations; Bounded to the Northward or one end of this slipe of Land extendinge North to the Cabine necke Bounded on the East side (at the loer or south end) with Longe Creecke the which land he enters a Cauiet for as a part of the forementioned Rightes of one thousand Ackers, groundinge the sd Entrance upon tht Act of Assembly no 28: mr Henery Canine Complaines agai mr Tho: Ward For Certaine beare and wine which he had of him, tht is not hitherto payd for, nor any way satisfied; The sd Ward acknowledginge the Complaint, & the debt made appeare to bee One hundred & twelue pounds of tobacco |
