Kent County Court Proceedings, 1656-1662. 119 thou hast dun more then thow canst answar in breaking into the fort Liber B whereupon Mt Bradnox being abed caled us in & bid us turn him out [fol. 21] or else he would hamstring him or breack his legs & by or pswasions he tooke up a coale of fire & went his way & farther deposeth nJurate coram me Phill: Conier Tho: Dikes The Depossition of Tho: Dikes aged 21 yeares or thear abouts taken the 19th of October 1657 Sworne Exã saith That some time about the last of Agust or the .Begining of Septem: Bradnox being merry in his owne house with som of his freinds after they were gon some home & some to sleep the sd MY Bradnox & his wife goeing into their owne roome good freinds as far as yor depnt could pceiue by them mrs Bradnox went to bed & being in bed sd to her husband pray fetch me a cup of perry & whether he fetch one cup or more yor depnt cannott tell the being both in bed together some words past betwen them whereupon the Sd Mrs Bradnox being in a great passion rose out of his bed & went to another & soc left them that night & further deposeth nott Tho: Dikes Jurate coram me Phill Conier At a Court holden for kent the 20: of Nouem: 1657 prsent prt Mr Phill Conier Commander Mr Tho: Ringold Comiss: Mr Tho: Hinson Mr Henry Morgan Tho: Bradnox complaineth agst: John Salter in an action of debt due by bill in the sum of 1364l of tobacco & caske & for this he bringeth his suite wart issued The defendant haueing acknowledge the debt to be due the Court hath therefore orderd that the defendant shall make prsent payment of 1364l of tobacco with Caske; unto the plantife wth Court Charges elc Exc: Capt Robt Vaughan complaineth agst: John Salter in a action of debt due by bill in the sum of 390 pound of tobacco & Caske & for this he bringeth his suite wart issued the defendant haueing acknowledge the debt the Court hath there fore orderd that prsent payment shall be made unto the Plantife by the defendant wth cost of suite els Exce: William Leedes recordes his marke of Cattle Be it knowne unto all men by these prsents That I Tho: Brdnox Record of kent in the puince of Maryland &c doe acknowledge my selfe my heires Exce: & assignes to haue bargained sould & Delid unto John Ellis of the same place Planter one plantation commonly knowne by |
