you were acquainted with the Circumstance of this Money's being
appropriated to the Recruiting Service and not subject even to our
Disposition, and that by a Law of the last Session, we are empowered
to pay Creditors who have advanced Money to the State on Promises
of speedy Payment, or who may be greatly distressed and injured, the
Whole, or Part of their Debt, by the Sale of Specific. You are ap-
prised of our Determination, and the Measures to be pursued, and
we have put it in your Power to avoid the Evils which will attend
them; though they may appear rigid, they are only such as our Duty
and the Welfare of the State have prompted us to adopt and your
Conduct fully warrants.

Thursday 3 1st January 1782

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Lieut William
Lamar of the 1st Regimt thirty two pounds, fourteen shillings and
nine pence of the Bills emitted under the Act for the Emission of
Bills of Credit &ca for Stores to the 1st of February on Account —
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Harwood Esqr one hun-
dred and fifty pounds, ten shillings and four pence of the same Emis-
sion due him per Certificates passed by the Aud Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to Samuel T Wright Esqr thirty nine
pounds, twelve shillings & six pence of the same Emission due him
per Account passed by the Depy Aud. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Majr John Davidson one pound
ten shillings specie for I Cord Wood purchd for the soldiers p Acct
passed by the D. Aud

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Thomas Grason
fifty one pounds, eight shillings and to Majr John Davidson one hun-
dred and seven pounds, seven shillings and five pence of the Bills
emitted under the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca due
them for Certs issued agreeable to the Act to adjust the Debts &ca
That the said Treasurer pay to Elizabeth Maxwell, two hundred
and seventy nine pounds, sixteen shillings and to Colo James Tootell
fifty eight pounds, fourteen shillings and three pence Specie agreeable
to the Act to adjust the Debts due from this State p Certs settled bv
the A Gl 29th Inst.
That the said Treasurer pay to Jeremiah T. Chase Esqr three hun-
dred and nineteen pounds, seventeen shillings and ten pence specie
in full for his Salary for the year 1781. —
