[W^m Paca in Council to The Intendant]

We think all the Articles lately imported from France on Account
of the State (except the Arms, Accoutriments, and Tents) being of
a perishable Nature, should be sold as early as Notice can be given to
the People all over the State, the present being the proper Season to
dispose of them : And as you have Apprehensions which appear to
us to be well founded, that if they were sold on short Credit for
Specie only, that the Purchasers, as has already been the Case in
other Instances, might trump up Accounts against the State and in-
sist upon discounting, or might insist upon making Payment in liqui-
dated Certificates; we think it would be best, in Order to avoid all
Disputes and to benefit the State, to sell the Articles for Specie, all
Kinds of liquidated Certificates, Officers depreciation Certificates,
Journal Certificates, such Soldiers Certificates as have not been trans-
ferred, all Orders on the Treasury and such of your own and the
Financier's Notes and Certificates as you may think proper

The Honorable Gabriel Duvall & James Brice Esquires.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to William Har-
wood Fifty pounds Current Money for six months Salary as Clerk
of the Ho. Delegates p Acc^t passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Frederick Green Two pounds three
shillings and six pence Current Money out of the Money set apart
for Contingent Expences per Account passed. —

Present His Excellency William Paca Esquire Governor
The Honorable Gabriel Duvall & Jeremiah T. Chase Esquires
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Jeremiah T.
Chase Esq^r Sixty eight pounds, nine shillings and nine pence Cur-
rent Money for One Year's Interest on Sundry Certificates issued
agreeably to the "Act to adjust the Debts due from this State " per
Account passed by the Dep^y Aud^r —
That the said Treasurer pay to Ignatius Digges Esquire Eighty
five pounds, two shillings and five pence half penny Current Money
for One Year's Interest on a Certificate issued under the Act afore-
said, dated 17 October 1781.
That the said Treasurer issue a Certificate to John Tully Young
agreeable to the "Act proposing to the Citizens of this State, Credi-
tors of Congress &^ca " for sixteen pounds nine shillings and eight
pence due him on a Continental Loan Office Certificate adjusted by
the Deputy Auditor the 10^th May last
