Samuel Chase Esquire appointed Agent and Trustee to receive
and dispose of the Stock in the Bank of England, belonging to this
State, this Day executed and lodged a Bond with approved Security
agreeably to the Directions of the "Act concerning the Stock of the
Bank of England, belonging to this State." —

[B Stoddert in Council Annapolis to Honble Robert Morris Esqr]

We are honored with your's of the 5th instant. The Assembly of
this State, passed an Act at the last Sessions, directing the Intendant
to advance 5 Months Pay to our Line of the Army — We would
transmit the Law, but we understand it has already been done by the
Continental Receiver. You will perceive by this Act that the first 5/
Tax appropriated to the use of the United States, is now to be ap-
plied to the Payment of the five Months Pay. The only Money that
can be turned over to the Continental Treasury, for some time, is a
Tax of 2/6 in every hundred Pounds property amounting to about
£10,000 first made Payable last May, but the Collection since sus-
pended 'till August next. A Tax of 2/6 in the £100 is also to be col-
lected in September for the same purpose.

We have the Honor to enclose an Attested copy of an Act, to em-
power Congress to Levy certain Duties, and are &ca

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John Crisall
Seven pounds, ten shillings Current Money, out of the Money put
into the Treasury for procuring necessaries for the Hospital on
Account —

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John Gill junr
Four Pounds, seven shillings and six pence specie for the like sum
paid into the Treasury by him for Caution Money, as appears by a
Warrant
That the said Treasurer issue a Certificate to Capt John Stewart
agreeably to the "Act proposing to the Citizens of this State, Credi-
tors of Congress &ca " for Six hundred and fifty nine pounds, eight-
een shillings, and One penny due him on Continental Loan Office Cer-
tificates adjusted by the Deputy Audr the 9th Instant

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer issue a Certificate to
Samuel Cockayne agreeably to the "Act proposing to the Citizens of
