Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to William Coale
forty one pounds, fifteen shillings specie agreeable to the Act to adjust
the Debts due from this State, four pounds, five shillings part thereof
for the use of Horatio Cooper, ten pounds, six shillings and eight
pence for John Willard Sixteen pounds, eighteen shillings and four
pence for John Oneal and the remainder ten pounds, five shillings
for [Peter] Ratiker due them on Accounts passed. —
Commissions issued to Richard Bond elected Sheriff of Caecil
County and Adam Fisher Sheriff of Frederick County. —
A Letter from Alexander Somervill of Calvert County complain-
ing of an unfair and irregular Election of Sheriffs for the said
County being laid before this Board — It is ordered that an hearing
on the said Letter be had before the Governor and Council on Tues-
day the 29th Instant and that Summons's issue for Witnesses on the
application of any of the parties. —
Commissions issued to the following persons belonging to the
Severn Battalion in Ann Arundel County dated the 14th Instant.
Caleb Hazle Capt in the room of Francis Cromwell — Charles Robos-
son first Lieut — Vachel Robboson second Lieut — James Reynolds,
second Lieut, Joseph Mayo Junr Ensign of Capt Joshua Merrikin's
Company — Vachel Conoway Captain in the room of John Gray —
William Worthington first Lieut and John Gray of Joshua second
Lieutenant.

It appearing from the return of the Judges of the Election of
Sheriffs for Montgomery County, that there were found in the Ballott
Box at the Close of the Election twelve hundred and nineteen Bal-
lotts — and that by the Polls kept by the Clerks of the Election they had
taken only the names of one thousand and forty one Voters — from
which Circumstances there are good grounds to suspect and this
Board do adjudge that the said Election begun and held on Monday
the 7th of this Instant, was not made fairly and agreeably to the
Constitution of this State; and therefore that a New Writ of Election
for Sheriffs issue agreeable to the directions of the Form of Govern-
ment and the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided. —
In consequence of the above Determination of the Election for
Sheriffs of Montgomery County a Writ hath this Day issued, directed
to the Justices of the said County for reholding the same Election. —

The enclosed for Mr Hunt, is an Order for an Hearing on the 29th
Instant, respecting the Election of Sheriffs in Calvert County; and
as it may be of Consequence to Mr Hunt to receive it early, we shall
be obliged to you to forward it to him, and inform us, by the Post,
whether he received it.
