Thomas Sanner and thirteen Pounds, one shilling & six Pence to
William Leigh due them for Bounty on Salt per Accounts passed.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Capt Daniel
Bryan one hundred and seven Pounds of the Bills emitted under the
Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca for the use of the Crew
of the Plater, per Account passed.
That the said Treasurer pay to James Williams and Thomas
Baxter each, nine Pounds, fifteen shillings of the same Emission due
them per Accounts passed.
That the said Treasurer pay to William Hyde eighty three Pounds
six shillings and eight Pence, His Excellency Governor Lee three
hundred and seventy five Pounds and Thomas Johnson junr seventy
five Pounds of the same Emission in part of their Salaries on Account.
That Capt Philemon Warfield deliver to John Shaw one thousand
Gun flints.

Saturday 3d August 1782

Commission of Letters of Marque & Reprisal issued to James
Buchanan Commander of the Ship Favorite, navigated by eighty men,
mounting twenty two Carriage Guns, belonging to Wallace, Johnson,
Muir & Company.
William Underbill appointed Master, Thomas Ellgo Boatswain
and Charles Furne, Gunner of the Barge Protector and Warrants
issued.
Commission issued to Levin Handy appointed Captain of Marines
on board the Barge Protector.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John Alexander
and George Baker each, ten Pounds, five shillings of the Bills emitted
under the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit &ca due them per
Accounts passed.

[Council to Capt. Bryan]

When we directed you to deliver Capt. Stewart the Anchor he
lent the State, we understood the Plater had two Anchors besides :
this not being the Case, you must suspend the Execution of our
Order, until we otherwise direct therein. You will inform Capt.
Stewart when he applies to you, that we have countermanded our
former Order, and will make him full Satisfaction for his Anchor.

It will be necessary that the Plater attend the Barges as a Store
Ship, and for the better immediate Accommodation of such as may
unfortunately wounded : You will therefore consider yourself under
the Command and Direction of the Commanding Officer of the
Barges, to whom you are to apply for further Orders.
