[Council to Honble Intendant.]

The enclosed Return from General Smallwood, will shew the
Places where the new Recruits are to rendezvous, and where it will
be necessary to supply Provisions for them. As it will be very ex-
pensive to appoint an Issuing Commissary at every little Post, we
hope it will be in your Power to adopt some more frugal Mode of
accommodating the Troops. We have agreed to pay three Shillings
a Day to each Officer actually employed in the Recruiting Service
for Forage; it will therefore be necessary, that Measures be taken
to procure as much Specie as will answer this Purpose.
