Mr James Clerk a native of Great Britain who hath lately arrived
in this State appeared before this Board and Voluntarily did make,
repeat and subscribe a Declaration of his Belief in the Christian
Religion, took, repeated and subscribed the Oath directed in the
" Act for Naturalization " and also the Oath Contained in the " Act
to punish certain Crimes and Misdemeanors and to prevent the
Growth of Toryism " —

Friday 29th March 1782

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Samuel Duvall
seven pounds, thirteen shillings and four pence — Peregrine Read
eight pounds fifteen shillings and Robert Matthews thirteen pounds,
sixteen shillings of the Bills emitted under the Act for the Emission
of Bills of Credit &ca for Clothing due them per Accounts passed —
That the said Treasurer pay to Simon Nicholls eleven pounds of
the same Emission to be delivered over as follows, three pounds to
William Harding — two pounds to Archibald Orme — three pounds
to Basil Harding and three pounds to John Wilson due them per
Accounts passed. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Lieut Benjamin Garnett of Baylor's
Horse forty two pounds, eight shillings and six pence for Stores to
the 1st Instant — thirty pounds in lieu of a Suit of Cloaths and four
shirts for the present Year and twenty three pounds, five shillings of
the same Emission deficiency of Clothing for the last year on
Account. —
That the said Treasurer pay to Colo Charles Swearingan ninety
seven pounds, two shillings and three pence of the same Emission
due him on a Certificate settled and passed
That the said Treasurer pay to Colo James Hindman six hundred
pounds of the same Emission to be delivered over to Joseph Bruff
on Account
That the said Treasurer pay to Commodore Thomas Grason five
hundred and nine pounds on Account of Pay due the men employed
in the Barges last Summer and also five hundred pounds of the same
Emission to be expended in fitting out the Barges to be accounted
for—
That the said Treasurer pay to Colo Henry Hollingsworth twelve
hundred and thirty one pounds, eleven shillings and nine pence of
the same Emission — five hundred and thirty five pounds, one shilling
part thereof to be by him retained and six hundred and ninety six
pounds ten shillings and nine pence the residue, to be delivered over
to Samuel Gilpin due them per Accounts passed. —
