72 Letters to the Governor and Council

February 15

[John Moale, Wrm Spear, And. Buchanan Baltimore Town to His
Excellency Thos. Sim Lee Esqr]

Henry Stevenson Esqr late Collector of Baltimore County in-
forms us that his Bond is to be put in suit in Consequence of his
not Discharging the Balance of an Acct some time since Settled by
us and deliver'd to the Treasurer of the Western Shore — we now
inform Your Excellency that we have not (agreeable to the Act of
Assembly for his relief and for the suspension of the Treble Tax
on the sums of Nine pounds fifteen Shillings) settled his Acct there-
fore hope his Bond may not be put in suit until his Accots are finally
settled, which we Expect will be done in a Short Space of time.

N. B. for further Particulars we refer you to Mr Archibald
Buchanan J. M.

[Donl. Yeates, D. Q. M. Elk, to the Gov. & Council.]

The inclosed Estimate I have Just recd from the Quarter master
for the Southern Army, he urges the immediate forwarding the
Horses and Gears, and the strictest attention to the procureing
and forwardg the other Specific Articles concluding that no Army
ever was in greater want, I take the earliest oppery to refer the cir-
cumstance to your Hon. Board for Your Order therein,
Estimate of Quarter Masters Stores to be supplyed from the
State of Maryland for the Southern Army the ensuing Campaign
formed in due proportion to her Quoto of Troops. January 2 Ist
1781
Knapsacks, 3500; Marques, 8; Horsemans Tents, 60; Commen
ditto, 600; Camp Kettles, 600; Camp Kettles with covers for offi-
cers, 150; Axes, 600; Leather Portmanteaus for officers, 150; Camp
Stools, 1 50; Linen bags to be filled with straw for officers and sick,
250; Linen bags with slings for Camp Kettles, 600; Canteens with
slings, 3500; Saddler for expresses & contingent uses, 50; Bridles
for ditto, 50; Halters, 1000; Canvas for Batteau covers, yards, 1000 ;
Pears for 50 Teams (four horse); Rheam of writing paper, 50; Ink
Powder a proper proportion for the paper; Quills, 2000 Boxes of
wafers, 100; Sealing Wax; Draught Horses young & strong, 50.

[Richd Barnes, Leod Town to His Excellency Thos Sim Lee Esqr]

We have for sometime past been ravaged in this Coty by the
Enemy. They on Friday last landed and plundered several familys
on Smiths Creek, together with a quarter of mine there, from which
unless a proper force by Water can be procured to drive them away
(as there are many of their Vessels, as I am informed constantly
