all possible dispatch. As the shipping collected here is altogether
inadequate to the purpose, and as inconveniencies may attend their
going in detail, I have taken the liberty to promote the Marquiss
intentions, by making this communication to your Excellency; that,
if there should be any shipping at Annapolis, no moments may be
lost in ordering them to the Head of Elk.

Thomas Sim Lee In Council]

We waited On Mr William Since Mr Griest was Down with
you, for A Rect for Flour & Wheat which we Returnd him Accord-
ing to your Instructions but he would not Give any & says he Knows

nothing about it as he was often Puting in & taking Out, and says

we have no occation for a Rect as we ware Sowrn he Dos not Deny
receiving the Flour & Wheat, But why he Refuses to Give a Rect
We Cannot Conjector unless to prevent Our Setling Accts

May it please your Excellency As the Sheriffs Office by our Con-
stitution is admitted to a resignation, I hereby resign the Office
which I hold as Sheriff of Worcester County: humbly praying that
your Excellency and the Honble Councill will be pleased to appoint
an other person to that Office in my Stead
P. S. I have given the Court of Worcester County Sufficient &
great notice

[C. T. Wederstrandt, Queen Ann's County, to His Excellency,
Thos Sim Lee, Esqr.]

Few days ago at Cambridge Mr Caile the late Commissary told
me, that hearing the Assembly had named Mr James Sulivane Com-
missary for Dorchester County, he had not took charge of any of the
Salt you had directed him to receive from me, and Mr Sulivane said,
he could not take it before he had your orders to do it: I must there-
fore request your Excellency to give that Gentleman the necessary
orders thereto, that I may have his receipt to produce with those of
the other Counties Commissaries for the quantity of it, They will
have in their respective districts.
The late John Caile Harrison deceased had by your order pur-
chased about Two hundred bushels of wheat which now lays in Store
at Cambridge, also I did find that he had remaining in Store at his
decease, 21 barrels of flour 2 barrels of Ship Stuff 4 barrels Hoggs
lard & 4 barrels of pork of the purchase I had made on account of
the United States & that the last Vessel who loaded at Cambridge
before his decease, could not take with the other provisions she car-
ried to the Head of Elk; It being too small a quantity to send by
