[Sam Smith, Balt., to Gov. Lee.]

I was Honor'd with your Excellency's orders this Day too late
I fear to procure the 4 horsemens tents all the Canvass being cut up
for Com: tents 5 of which went down on Saturday 34 will go with
the waggons I hope to morrow & 4 will be delivered Gen Gist for his
guard and family. I expect there will be horses sufficient To morrow
to forward the remainder of the waggons Mr Cromwell having began
to seize. The drums & fifes I expect from Philadelphia this or next
week there are none made here. My friend writes they are ready but
he had not "procur'd sufficient money from the Tobacco to pay for
them. Doctr Wiesenthal has promised me a set of Amputating
