May it please Your Excellency I have this moment Received
information by Express from the Sciper of our Lookout boat That
there were Several Sail of Vessels this forenoon Standing up the
River Potowmack, one of Which a Large Ship as high as Black-
stones Island. I have ordered The Militia to be Collected With all
speed in order to oppose them should they attempt to Land Within
the County, and shall impatiently Wait your instructions

Lee Esqr Governor of Maryland & the Honorable Council.]

Being informed Last Evening by two Gentlemen of the Assem-
bly that they had so ordered our Business, that we were to be Called
before your Honors this morning and be so released as to go home,
and not hearing any thing more About it beg you'l Excuse taking
this method of addressing your Honours. Begging a Call this After-
noon and hope the request may be Granted, Your Honors well know-
ing what a tedious time we have been here on suspence not only of
