you a List of all the Tobacco in my hands, and the Different Quan-
tity's at each Different ware House of both Crop and Transfer, with
the Number weight and Date of each Hogshead, which I hope may
answer your Purpose for the Present, the Greatest Part of which
I have received since the first of this Instant. As to the money in
my hands which is about One hundred thousand Pounds Continental
& Convention, I received last week from the Collectors of Talbot,
Dorset and Somerset is all the money in my hands except f 50 in
Specie received on Loan the Continental & Convention I suppose is
to be exchanged for the new Continental State Bills but when you
sent me the new money to Exchange, you Omitted sending me a
Copy of the Act, by which I was to Exchange it (and which I de-
sired the Guard to mention to you) and have never yet been fur-
nished with one — and therefore have been obliged to Exchange the
money all together upon Hearsay which if rong, I hope .will not be
said to my Charge, whare People have brought in Continental &
Convention I have Exchanged it at one for forty to the Amount of
440971 60/90 Continental Dollars. 7871 60/90 dollars Convention
and 30 1/2 dollars old Maryland money, and as I apprehend there will
be a Considerable Quantity of the new Bills remaining on hand on
the fifteenth of this Instant (which time I am told it must be re-
turned to the Continental Treasurer) if so, Shall be glad to be in-
formed by a Line from you, what Guard may be necessary for me to
send with it to Annapolis, as also the Continental & Convention
which I have Exchang'd
I suppose the Different Collector's Bonds will be put in Suite im-
mediately and therefore; shall be glad to be inform'd wheather I am
to Continue receiving from them any parts which they may hereafter
offer, without the whole Principal due and the Interest thereon be-
ing paid down the Collectors all seem very Desirous of Settling their
Balances and say; they shall be able to make a final Settlement by the
General Court (except the Collectors of Cecil & Worcester which I
have not seen nor heard from since August last. I presume the last
Assembly has injoyned many duties on the Treasurers, and therefore
shall be glad to be furnished with the Acts of the last Sessions in
time.

I have this moment heard of a Prisoner now in Baltimore Jail
that was captured by the Porpoise on her Course down the Bay,
& reserv'd for a Capt of Mr Stewards, which Capt has now return'd
& at Liberty, Mr Steward informed me that with your approbation,
I may get him & as there is now a good opportunity of sending him
down to Virginia to be deliver'd to Arnolds hands I shall esteem it a
great favor if you'll have the exchange settled in my behalf, theres
at present a wide feild for me to be employed in & wish most fer-
