Commissions issued to Philip Stilts appointed Captain in the room
of Thomas Marshall, William Davis first Lieut. Thomas Reisten
second Lieut. Robinson Jones second Lieut, John Hooke Ens. of
Capt. Nicholas Merryman Compy. Paul Hann Capt in the room of
John Showers John Rutter first Lieut. John Shaver Ensign. Henry
Brown first Lieutenant, Abraham Butler second Lieutenant and
William Loveall Ensign belonging to the Upper Batalion of Militia
in Balt. County.

[Council to George Murdock, Esqr.]

We wrote you on the 2d ulto appointing you Issuing Commissary
for the British Prisoners to be quartered in or near Frederick Town,
which Business we wish you to undertake. Directions are given to
forward a considerable Number of Beef Cattle to you, from the
several Counties, and Mr Calhoun is called on to furnish you with
Salt to cure the Beef, when slaughtered; we wish you, in the mean
Time to make the necessary Arrangements for the Reception and
safe keeping the Provision.

We are informed there are a Number of the Militia Draughts and
substitutes in and about George Town who are useless and an Expence
to the State, we therefore request you to give them a Discharge and
send them off to their respective Homes.

[Council to Mr. Thomas Beall of George.]

Mr Joshua George the Continental Quartermaster at George Town,
informs us that he is under great Difficulties for Beef Barrels and
has no Means of procuring them. We request you to dispose of thirty
Barrels of the public Flour in your Hands, to be laid out in Pork or
Beef Barrels and deliver them to Colo George taking his Receipt and
making a Return in your Account of such Delivery. The Auditor
States all Accounts for Waggonage and Pasturage upon Certificates
being produced to him

Georges, Calvert, Montgomery Frederick & Washington Counties.]

We request you to forward all the Cattle now in your Possession
or that may be collected to Frederick Town, to be delivered to
Mr George Murdock.

Colo George, Quarter Master at George Town Patowmack has about
120 Head of Beef Cattle at that Post, but he has not Salt sufficient to
