by the first opportunity that offers. The Proposition in yours of the
28th relative to the Money to be deducted from your second Payment
for Lots purchased on Whetstone Point is inadmissible, we send by
this opportunity a thousand Pounds agreeable to your requisition.
If whatever Articles of Cloathing you have been requested to procure,
cannot be purchased with the new Money as Specie, we wish you to
apply to Capt Keeports who will Seize them according to the Direc-
tions given by this Board

We have received your Letter of the 20th and approve very highly
of the Disposition of the Gentlemen in your Neighbourhood of form-
ing themselves into a Troop of Horse under the Act of June Session
1780 upon this Principle we would most willingly accomodate you
with Swords Pistols and Holsters at the public Expence were it within
our power; but we have none of there Accoutrements. We trust that
your Zeal and Activity will not be abated but that the same spirit which
induced you and your Associates to form such a Design will carry
it into Effect, and that you will find Means to procure the Things you
want to equip the Troop

Thursday 30th August 1781

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John Vardin six
pounds, fifteen shillings and eleven pence of the Bills emitted under
the Act for the Emission of Bills of Credit not exceeding 200,000£s
&ca of the money appropriated for the present Campaign due him
per Account passed by the Depy Aud.
That the said Treasurer pay to Joseph Dowson, three hundred
pounds of the same Emission of the money aforesaid, to be delivered
over to Colo Thomas Price Commissary of Frederick County for
the use of his Departmt on Accot
That the said Treasurer pay to the said Joseph Dowson, one hun-
dred pounds of the same Emission of the money aforesaid to be
delivered over to Philip Thomas Esquire Lieut of Frederick County
and by him forwarded to Moses Rawlings Esqr Commissary of
Washington County for the use of his Department and to be ac-
counted for.
That the said Treasurer pay to Brigadier General Gist one hundred
and ten pounds of the same Emission of the money aforesaid to
defray the Expences incurred in transacting business entrusted to his
care by General Greene to be charged to the Continent on Account
and the further sum of one hundred and twenty six pounds like
Money to be delivered over to James Calhoun Commissary of Balti-
more County on Account
