Intelligence and Circumstances we are convinced that we ought to be
strictly on our Guard, and that our Militia should keep themselves
prepared to oppose the Enemy in Case they make any Attempt; mean
Time the Inhabitants should be advised of the Nearness of the Enemy
and that they may if they think proper secure their Effects in places
of safety, for your fuller Satisfaction we enclose you a Copy of the
Letters from whence the above Intelligence was taken.

Saturday 11th August 1781

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Capt. Michael
Boyer sixteen pounds two shillings Specie agreeably to the Act to
adjust the Debts due from this State " in lieu of an Order of the 19th
September 1780 in favor of Alexander Smith surgeons Mate to the
German Regiment as settled by the Aud. Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to Septimus Noel Twenty three
pounds ten shillings and four pence Specie agreeably to the Act afore-
said p Acct settled by the Aud. Gl
That the said Treasurer pay to Charles Jones three hundred and
eighty three pounds, eighteen shillings Specie agreeably to the Act
aforesaid due him per Certificates settled by the Aud. Genl the 10th
Instant.
That the said Treasurer pay to James Hodges nine pounds, seven
shillings and six pence of the Bills emitted under the Act for the
Emission of Bills of Credit not exceeding two hundred thousand
pounds &ca of the money appropriated for the present Campaign due
him per Account passed by the Aud. Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to Doctr William Kilty Thirty pounds
of the same Emission of the money appropriated as aforesaid on
Account.
That the said Treasurer pay to Major Alexander Roxburgh of the
4th Regimt sixteen pounds and six pence of the same Emission of the
money appropriated as aforesaid per Account passed by the Aud. Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to Hannah May fifteen shillings of
the same Emission of the money appropriated as aforesaid per Acct
passed by the Aud. Genl
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Capt. Jacob Brice of the
4th Regimt one suit of Cloaths & Linen for four Shirts for the
present year on Account.
