of Militia in Ann Arundel County.

May 2
Liber C. B,
No. 24
p. 78

[Council to Capt. John Perry.]

The Council at your Request have released you on your Parole on
Condition that you obtain the Release of Capt. William Middleton,
and as there are some of his Boats Company Prisoners with him,
whom he may be desirous to get released; if you can affect the Ex-
change of those Persons, the same Number of your Brigs Company
or other British Seamen shall be released for them, and upon the
same Conditions which they are.

Liber No. 78
p. 148

[Council to Richard Barnes, Esqr.]

We have received your Letters of the 24th and 28th Ult we think it
will be proper to order such a Part of the Militia as you may deem
necessary for your Protection to hold themselves in Readiness to
march upon every Emergency. Howard's Property we have no
Authority, but think the Grand Jury of the Genl or your County
Court ought to be informed of his Conduct and a regular Prosecution
carried on against him. Every militia Man whose Situation in Life
will not enable him to furnish himself with every part of a Ration,
ought to have it provided for them while on Duty, but those who can,
ought to furnish themselves, and make Returns of their Accounts
to this Board for Payment. The Account of Mr Mills we have settled
and enclosed you agreeably to your Request. The seven Prisoners
mentioned in yours of the 28th have arrived and are safely lodged in
this City.

Ibid.

[Council to Mr. Joseph Ford.]

The Order given you on the Collector of St Mary's County, we
hope will shortly be discharged by him; and it is the only Mode we
can adopt to supply you.

Ibid.
