by Congress for their reception, we request your Excellency to give
us the earliest Information thereof with the necessary Communi-
cation respecting Supplies.

Saturday 17 March 1781

Ordered that the Commissary of Stores deliver to John Sands
four pounds sail Twine, which Commodore Nicholson is to be ac-
countable for Serj' John Neary of the 1st Regimt one Shirt, one
waistcoat, one pair Overalls one pr Shoes Serjant Johnson of the
same Regimt one pair of Shoes, and also to Capt. Benjamin Price
of the 2d Regimt two shirts in full of the Articles for the present year
That the wesern shore Treasurer pay to His Excellency Thomas
Sim Lee Esquire three hundred and twelve pounds ten shillings of
the new Em" on account of his Salary to the 8th February last
That the said Treasurer pay to Stephen West Esqr one hundred
and fifty pounds of the same Emission on Account of his Salary.

Ordered that the Issuing Commissary procure and furnish Com-
modore Nicholson for the use of the Brig Nesbitt one doz Hams &
Shoulders twenty pounds of butter twenty pounds of sugar two
pounds of Tea six pounds of Coffee, one Case Gineva White biscuit,
Cheese, Cider, Spirit, Onions, Peper, Mustard, Potatoes, Cabbage,
Vinegar, Salt and Fresh meat.
Commission issued to Saml Watkins appointed Capt in the room
of Thomas Watkins Robert Pain Davis first Lieut Robert Smith
second Lieut and Aaron Rawlings Ensign of the West River Bat-
talion of Militia in Ann Arundel County.

We have so little Provision and the Conveyance of it to you so

difficult that we think you had better [purchase them] in the Neigh-
bourhood and issue to each Guard one Pound Salt or one pound and
a Quarter fresh Meat and one Pound and a Quarter flour p Day you
must procure the Provision on the best Terms you can

We have your letter of the 16th by Express. The english Ships are
now at Anchor off this place while they continue here it will be im-
proper to send any Vessels down the Bay. We have a Chain of

and Philadelphia. As they will always call at Elk we request Atten-
tion may be paid to their Dispatches and that no Neglect be suffered
to pass unnoticed; should you observe any Delay in any of them we
desire that you will give us Notice and the Name of the Person.
